Briar & the Dreamers of Midnight is out!

January 18, 2021

In the Dreaming, evil fairies hunt rebels like Briar into the darkest nightmares of the kingdom….
The latest book in the Midnight Tales series is out today!
Is it time to escape to another world? How about a fierce fairy tale?

Well, I’m excited to tell you that my latest book in the Midnight Tales series is out!

Briar & the Dreamers of Midnight comes from my belief that Sleeping Beauty must be doing something beyond sleeping through her own story. I just had to find out what secret adventures she was up to.

If this sounds interesting to you, I hope you’ll check it out! Don’t miss this fierce fairy tale!

Book & TV Show Recommendations by EE-Readers 2

June 23, 2020

Thanks to the fabulous EE-Readers for their recommendations on books to read and shows to watch! This is the second of a series of posts with reader recommendations.

(some links on this page are affiliate links)

What I’m enjoying:

Book: Starsight by Brandon Sanderson (Sequel to Skyward. I’m enjoying it as much as the first book.)

TV/ Streaming: Avatar: The Last Airbender (Still re-watching and LOVING this TV series (NOT the movie). One of my all-time favorite series. I’m a total fangirl. Yip Yip!) – Netflix or Amazon

Movie: Inception (I re-watched this movie this week. Can’t say I loved the entire plot, but I absolutely love the concepts behind it. My soon-to-be announced next book–Briar and the Dreamers of Midnight–is related to dreams, so that’s always fun to see movies about the same topic.)

Recommendations by EE-Readers:

Books:

Ruby & the Huntsman of Midnight by Susan EE (Aww..thank you!)

The Cruel Prince by Holly Black (this has been on my to-read list since it came out. It looks great! One of the highlights of my career was when Holly asked for an advanced copy of End of Days. That totally made my week to think about Holly Black reading my book!)

Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas (I met her once at a conference. She’s pretty, talented, a genuine fangirl, and the minute you meet her, you want to be her friend. 🙂

TV/ Streaming:

Westworld – HBO – (Love the premise, but it’s one of the most violent shows I’ve ever seen.)

Criminal Minds – CBS

Supernatural – CW

Movies:

Arrival – (An impressive adaptation of the short story Stories of Your Life by Ted Chiang. I never thought this brilliant short story could be adapted into film. I’m happy to say they did an excellent job. Still worth reading the actual short story, though.)

Onward – Disney Plus

True Romance

Here’s what readers are saying about how they’re relaxing these days:

  • Sitting in the garden watching the kittens play, plus learning to needle felt large dragons
  • Learning how to make stacked layer cakes
  • Mostly just baking! I made these cookies recently— will attach link at bottom— and they’re great if you like chocolate! I’m going to try them again and add some coffee flavor to see if it’s just as good 🙂 https://cafedelites.com/best-fudgy-chocolate-brownie-cookies/ I’ve also been doing some art— I’ve found it’s fun to try to come up with my own set of deities, kind of like greek mythology! So far I have one for sun, moon, and am working on a foresty one. So if you’re into art, that could be a fun exercise 🙂

THANK YOU so much to all the fantastic EE-Readers for the fabulous recommendations!

Stay tuned for more in the coming weeks! If you’d like me to let you know when the next set of recommendations goes up, sign up to my EE-Mail list and I’ll shoot you an email.

Book & TV Show Recommendations by EE-Readers 1

June 19, 2020

Thanks to the fabulous EE-Readers for their recommendations on books to read and shows to watch! This is the first of a series of posts with reader recommendations.

(some links on this page are affiliate links)

What I’ve enjoyed recently:

Book: Skyward by Brandon Sanderson (My first Sanderson book. Really enjoyed it.)
TV/ Streaming: Avatar: The Last Airbender (TV series, definitely NOT the movie) – Netflix or Amazon (One of my all-time favorite series. Yip Yip!)
Movie: Black Panther (One of my favorite Marvel movies)

Recommendations by EE-Readers:

Books:

Angelfall by Susan EE (Aww..thank you!)
Daughter of Smoke and Bones by Laini Taylor
Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (I was on a panel once with both Laini and Leigh. They’re both lovely people.)

TV/ Streaming:

Stranger Things – Netflix – (Love love love!)
Kingdom – Netflix (Korean zombie goodness!)
Last Kingdom – Netflix

Movies:

Train to Busan – (Great movie! One of the best zombie movies I’ve seen. Okay, I didn’t love the ending, but loved everything else about it.)
Alita: Battle Angel
The Half of It – Netflix

Here’s what readers are saying about how they’re relaxing these days:

  • Meeting up with friends over Zoom 😀
  • I sketch and listen to music a lot. I guess that’s a tip: if you’re upset, sit down, pick up a pen and just move it over the paper. It doesn’t matter what you draw or in which color you draw, you just draw. It might sound silly, but I’ve actually found that it helps a lot:)
  • Currently, I’m playing Call of Duty Mobile.

Stay tuned for more recommendations in the coming weeks from the fantastic EE-Readers!
